The SHIFT-MED project is expected to deliver impactful and sustainable results that contribute to the modernization of higher education institutions in Tunisia and Palestine. Through the establishment of Sustainability Committees and the development of institutional governance frameworks, partner universities will enhance their capacity to manage and implement sustainability strategies effectively. The project will result in the creation of comprehensive sustainability strategies, action plans, and monitoring systems, enabling institutions to improve their environmental performance and operational efficiency. In addition, academic programmes will be modernised to integrate sustainability and digital transformation, fostering interdisciplinary learning and equipping students with relevant green and digital skills. Capacity-building activities will strengthen the competencies of academic and administrative staff, supporting long-term institutional change. Pilot initiatives implemented on campuses will demonstrate practical solutions in areas such as energy efficiency, resource management, and environmental awareness. Overall, SHIFT-MED will generate scalable and transferable models for sustainable and digitally enabled higher education, ensuring lasting impact beyond the project duration and contributing to regional development and the achievement of global sustainability goals.
