SHIFT-MED Consortium Holds Coordination Meeting to Advance the Next Phase of Project Implementation

The SHIFT-MED (Supporting Higher Education Institutions for Twin Transition in the Mediterranean) consortium successfully convened an online coordination meeting, bringing together project partners from Tunisia, Palestine, Türkiye, and Italy to review the project’s progress and coordinate the next phase of implementation. The meeting served as an important milestone for assessing achievements to date while ensuring a shared vision for the activities planned in the coming months.

The agenda focused on the implementation status of the project’s work packages and the coordination of upcoming tasks. Partners reviewed the progress of the Terms of Reference (ToR) consultation process for An-Najah National University and discussed the current status of dissemination, communication, and reporting activities carried out by each consortium member. These discussions contributed to strengthening collaboration and ensuring the effective visibility of project outcomes across all participating countries.

Particular attention was devoted to planning the next activities under Work Package 3 – Developing Green Curricula and Skills, which will support higher education institutions in integrating sustainability and twin transition principles into their academic programmes. The consortium also assessed the implementation and pilot testing activities under Work Package 2 – Enhancing Institutional Capacity for Green Governance, evaluating the progress achieved and identifying priorities for the next implementation period. Upcoming deliverables, project milestones, and implementation timelines were also reviewed to ensure the timely achievement of project objectives.

Following the successful completion of the Governance Workshops for Twin Transition in Universities and the establishment of Sustainability Committees within partner universities, SHIFT-MED is now entering a new stage of implementation. The consortium will focus on strengthening institutional governance structures, advancing the development of green curricula and skills, and reinforcing cooperation among higher education institutions across the Mediterranean region to accelerate both the green and digital transitions.

By fostering institutional capacity, promoting innovative governance approaches, and supporting curriculum modernisation, SHIFT-MED continues to contribute to the transformation of higher education institutions into more sustainable, resilient, and digitally empowered organisations. The project also strengthens regional cooperation by facilitating knowledge exchange and collaborative solutions to common sustainability challenges across the Mediterranean higher education ecosystem.

The consortium sincerely thanks all partners for their active participation, valuable contributions, and continued commitment throughout the meeting. Through strong collaboration and a shared vision, SHIFT-MED continues to make significant progress towards achieving its objectives and supporting the development of a more sustainable, innovative, and future-ready higher education landscape in the Mediterranean region.
